Program management of FFG's Spin-Off Fellowship

Markus Pröll-Schobel studied Applied Business Administration with a focus on Marketing & International Management as well as Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship in Klagenfurt. After nearly 2.5 years as a business start-up consultant, he joined the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) in 2008, where he took over the management of the national funding program Spin-off Fellowships in March 2020.

Dr. Rudolf Dömötör is the Director of the WU Entrepreneurship Center and the ECN (Entrepreneurship Center Network), a joint initiative of 35 Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences aimed at promoting interdisciplinary entrepreneurship among students and faculty. He is a co-founder of the Entrepreneurship Avenue, the largest entrepreneurship event series in Europe focused on students, and a co-author of the Austrian Startup Monitor, Austria's largest startup study. He has been active in the Austrian startup ecosystem for many years and has been a member of the Startup Council of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy since summer 2022.

Tanja Spennlingwimmer
Head of IP Management, Deep Technologies and Entrepreneurship (aws)

Dr. Tanja Spennlingwimmer completed a degree in Business Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, focusing on Public Corporate Governance, and enhanced her expertise through an MBA program in Professional Finance at the WU Executive Academy and Harvard Business School. After gaining initial experience in the environmental technology sector, she worked at Kapsch TrafficCom, where she also accumulated several years of international experience in the USA. From 2016 onwards, she was responsible for the areas of Investment and Innovation at Business Upper Austria. Since 2022, she has been leading the "Deep Technology, Innovation Protection & Entrepreneurship" business unit at Austria Wirtschaftsservice, the federal development bank, promoting spin-offs and start-ups in the high-tech and impact sectors. Dr. Spennlingwimmer is also a member of the Council for Research and Technology in Upper Austria and is actively involved in leading committees to strengthen the Austrian innovation landscape.

Antonia Rinesch offers 6+ years ofexperience in Austria's innovation landscape. After completing her MScin International Management at Católica Lisbon School of Business &Economics in 2018, a 6-month traineeship program at the venture capital fund Speedinvest made her dive into the Austrian startup ecosystem, which laidthe foundation for her 5+ year career at the digital media portal Trending-Topics.

Since January 2025 she is supporting the two newspinoff initiatives "Noctua Science Ventures" and "The Spinoff Factory" as Communications & Partnerships Leadin close collaboration with Speedinvest and TU Wien. The common goal:Early-stage founder support and funding for deeptech startups from TU Wien andother Austrian universities or research institutions. 

Besides managing a large variety of digital projects and marketing campaigns,she's been organizing as well as moderating numerous events and panels withsignificant stakeholders of the industry.

Noctua Science Ventures is a partnership between TUWien and seed investor Speedinvest. The aim of Noctua Science Ventures is toprovide early-stage capital and practical support for deep tech startupsemerging from Austrian universities and research institutions.

The Spinoff Factory is a wholly owned subsidiaryof TU Wien and sees itself as an innovation compass that accompanies TU Wienstudents and researchers on their journey from scientific idea to successfulstartup.

Sonja Polan has been working at aws since 2009 and is responsible for a range of programs in the field of knowledge transfer. As part of the Innovation Protection team, she manages the NCP-IP program, the National Contact Point for Intellectual Property and Knowledge Valorization, as well as the aws Proof of Concept program and the Spin-off Initiative Module 1. Prior to joining aws, she worked for the European Parliament, the European Commission, and various interest groups in Brussels. Before starting her professional career, she completed her studies in International Business Relations at the University of AppliedSciences in Eisenstadt.

Muaaz Abdul Hadi

Dr. Abdul Hadi is the CEO and project manager specializing in data-driven production systems - gaining his PhD in this field (TU Graz,2023) and multiple academic honors including first place at ÖWGP for best dissertation. Since 2019, he has advanced from researcher to project manager at Pro2Future, publishing 16 scientific papers, securing a patent, and leading the FFG Spin-Off Fellowship project “P2D2". He is also an external lecturer at FH Joanneum (SS), teaching AI in Production Systems. He has an international educational background, holding a master’s degree from TU Graz, business studies from the U.S. through the OverSEAs program, and a bachelor’s degree from India. In his earlier roles, he worked as technical expert at ANSRSource Inc. and held a financial management position at Urban Tajir in India.

Dr. Trabesinger, Co-CEO and risk manager with expertise inproduction digitalization in mechanical and industrial engineering, earned his PhD in 2023 in this field. He has broad experience spanning research,innovation management, and cooperative development, including senior research at Pro2Future since 2024, where he collaborated on the FFG Spin-Off Fellowshipwith Dr. Abdul Hadi. His career includes roles at TU Graz on digitalization inproduction systems and cybersecurity projects, innovation management at Holzkerns Quetschn Academy - an online learning platform for Styrian harmonica, management responsibilities at the cooperative economic initiative Genossenschaft für Gemeinwohl and seven years of industrial management experience at the Graz-based engineering office SinusPro for digital product development. With over 10 scientific publications, several academic lectures, and a granted US patent, he brings strong expertise in both technology and project coordination.

Irmgard Nemec-Stadtmann is an attorney-at-law at Herbst Kinsky Rechtsanwälte GmbH in Vienna. She specialises in intellectual property (IP), IT and e-commerce law, with a particular focus on trademark and unfair competition law as well as software-related legal matters. A significant part of her practice involves advising universities, spin-offs and start-ups on IP licensing, structuring cooperation agreements and the legal aspects of technology transfer. In addition, Irmgard advises universities, spin-offs and start-ups on company foundations and the legally compliant implementation participation structures. Before joining Herbst Kinsky in 2021, Irmgard headed the Legal and Trademark Department of a renowned patent attorneys’ firm in Vienna and worked in the IP department of a leading commercial law firm. She passed the Austrian bar exam with distinction in 2023.

Judith has been engaged scientific research for over nine years, working in close collaboration with industrial partners. Her expertise spans material science, textile chemistry, natural products, printing inks, textile printing, and textile dyeing - both at laboratory and industrial scales. Since three years, her research focusses on the development of sustainable, plant-based screen printing inks. The promising outcomes of this work have paved the way for the launch of her spin-off company, piColor, planned for the end of 2025.

Deep Learning Researcher at TU Wien, Lead EVIA

Zahra Babaiee is a computer vision researcher and deep tech entrepreneur specializing in brain-inspired and explainable convolutional neural networks. She completed her PhD research at TU Wien, where she uncovered biological patterns and connections to scale-space theory in deep vision models, with findings published at top venues like ICLR, ICML, and AAAI. Zahra was a visiting researcher at MIT CSAIL and is the recipient of the FFG Spin-off Fellowship to commercialize her research. She currently leads the spin-off project with her team developing delivery robots as an entry point to scalable, vision-based autonomous mobility, and has been recognized as one of TU Wien's "30 under 30".

Director Technology Management at Ascenion GmbH

Dr. Stefanie Possekel is Director Technology Management at Ascenion GmbH, Germany. A biochemist by training, Stefanie has spent more than 20 years in the biopharmaceutical industry and technology transfer. She has broad experience in in- and out-licensing of clinical and preclinical projects.  In particular, she successfully worked on numerous major collaborations between academia and industry. Since 2012 Stefanie has been a Director Technology Management at Ascenion GmbH, an independent knowledge and technology transfer company that supports 30 European partners with a life-science focus. In this role, she has also been very active in supporting start-up projects. Stefanie joined Ascenion from Novartis, where she served as Director Strategic Alliances with global responsibilities for the Musculoskeletal Disease Area and Oncology.  Prior to that she worked as Director Business Development at Santhera Pharmaceuticals, a Swiss-based specialty pharmaceutical company for orphan neuromuscular diseases.

Following completion of a PhD in molecular biology at the University of Cambridge, Ingrid Kelly Spillmann trained as a patent attorney and worked in private practice and the pharma industry. In 2012, she joined theTTO at University of Vienna, and since 2018 she has been active in supporting startup creation at ISTA. She is a Partner at VC firm xista science ventures, where she leads and manages investments into early stage life science startups and spinoffs, and has been an active member of the board of multiple companies.Ingrid is one of the organizers of the xbio Biomedical Entrepreneurship course for academic researchers, which is entering its fourth year.

Dr. Claus Graggaber is Regional Director of Salzburger Sparkasse and manages all market activities in retail and corporate banking across Salzburg and the adjacent Innviertel region. His career includes various leadership roles within Erste Group in Austria, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia, with a strong focus on commercial real estate. Most recently, he headed the department for commercial real estate financing and tourism in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe. He holds a Doctor of Law from the University of Vienna and an MBA from London Business School. With his academic background and experience in banking, Graggaber shares the vision of the Spin-Off Austria initiative to transform research results into successful start-ups.

Philipp Stangl is leading Noctua Science Ventures, a pre-seed venture capital fund backing deep-tech spin-offs from Austrian universities and research institutes.

He brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of startups and venture capital. Most recently, Philipp co-founded and served as CEO of Rebel Meat, a mission-driven food tech company pioneering a new category in alternative proteins. Before that, he co-led the pre-seed practice at Speedinvest, where he oversaw investments in more than 40 companies across 10+ countries.

Philipp has also worked as consultant and fractional CFO, combining entrepreneurial and investor perspectives to support ambitious founders on their journey in various ways.
